In short, New Vegas is a better RPG, Fallout 3 is a better Fallout. The world and atmosphere of Fallout 3 in unmatched. It's like playing Fallout 1 but on steriods. It has crazy, interesting locations and really good side quests. The world feels really alive, chaotic, hopeless and yet hopeful at the same time. In fallout 3 there is a random encounter feature, which makes all play through a unique, whilst New Vegas is the same every time. Anyways I’m rambling. Fallout New Vegas is probably ‘better’, but 3 is definitely worth starting with or playing. Fallout 4's combat feels so much better in comparison, and it feels like I'm actually doing damage to enemies, whereas in New Vegas, all my weapons barely did anything. Fallout 4 feels a little easier than I would want though, so I might increase the difficulty and see how it goes. Also, the graphics in New Vegas were a complete eyesore to look at. Not the point. In Fallout 3 you have an epic introduction that lets you play several stages of your childhood. It makes you feel so claustophobic and oppresive.
